WHAT HAPPENS AT THE FIRST SESSION?
The first session will give us the opportunity to meet, for you to explain what has brought you to counselling, and for you to decide if I am the right counsellor for you. As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I abide by their ethical framework. To visit BACP CLICK HERE. In the first session I will explain how I work and we will agree a contract together.
If we decide to proceed we will set up appointments at mutually convenient times. Each appointment lasts for 50 minutes (one hour for couples).
If we decide not to proceed I can offer you details of other practitioners or organisations who may be able to help you.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
I work with people on both a short and long term basis. Short term counselling is normally between 6 and 12 sessions, but as counselling proceeds and we review and discuss progress together this should give us an indication of how many sessions you might need. I will work with you for as long as you feel counselling is helping you, and you are free to end the counselling relationship at any time.
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
You can email me through the link on this site. I check my emails daily and will normally be able to contact you within 24 hours. You can also phone me: please leave a voicemail message if I am not available, and I will return your call as soon as I can. I am happy to discuss your requirements with you by telephone before you commit to booking your first session.
